Dawn Over Niagara

Dawn Over Niagara 15.5 x 19.5 in.| Acrylic on Painters Palette I HAVE CREATED PAINTINGS ON UNUSUAL SURFACES in my time, from ninety foot interior murals to tiny illustrations for books. This is the first time however, I have painted directly on a painters palette. A few weeks ago, I was invited to participate in a gallery holiday show. The theme: painting on an artists palette. I chose this curved shape to paint a landscape I photographed from my hotel window with a sunrise backlighting Niagara Falls. You can read and view how it was created in a new article on my site, Landscape On A Palette. As shown above, the most unique feature is that I re-worked a tabletop easel such that the future owner can choose to display the whole unit on a wall or display on a flat surface! The painting and easel are adhered to...

Painting Inside Florida’s Springs

The “Root” Home 8 x 13 in.| Oil on Linen TODAY WAS THE FIRST DAY of the High Springs Paint Out. It was overcast all day especially when under a canopy of trees at a beautiful spring. I chose to focus on the bottom of one tree as the woods were full of downed trees. A glint of sun in the afternoon made for a beautiful composition of this forest-floor tree. The play on words as the title made it perfect for me. We’ll see if the weather is more cooperative tomorrow. The Santa Fe River is the focus.

2007 Calendars for the Holidays

THIS IS A BIG YEAR FOR OFFERING CALENDERS to my collectors, artists and the public. I have culled paintings of all genre from throughout my career that folks have favored. If you visit this link to my product shop you can peruse all of the monthly thematic oversized calendars (you can view every month before purchasing. These calenders have huge boxes to mark your special dates), as well as, inxpensive single image calendars as stocking stuffers to enjoy all year long. My new sleek vertical Season Delights does it all. However, I know some of you love one single season, and would enjoy a year-round grouping of the season you like most. View links below for individual seasons. Next year, the Winter calendar will be available. The one I am most proud of is the Painting Monet’s Giverny Calendar, to give you a view of what his garden looks...

An Afternoon With Monet

An Afternoon With Monet 14x 11 in.| Acrylic on Linen TOMORROW BEGINS the High Springs Invitational Paint Out. Twenty five artists will converge on this tiny historic town. I’ve been here in Florida for three days to get the lay of the land and do some warm-up painting. After driving around for hours I ended back at the little house I am staying in to paint on the front porch. I brought one of the best books I’ve ever read on Monet so decided to make a little story with the painting. Cool lemonade and a good book in an easy chair! Now that’s fun. But I sat back and worked on the piece in paint instead, and can read my book later:) Looking forward to a great event of painting in various locations including the Santa Fe River. I’ll post more pieces as the are created. Here’s the...
