Soft Pastel on a Roll!

Use your muscles and be brave when painting in pastel. Take those sticks, break them in half and do some rolling up-and-down, back-and-forth to bring energy and thick impasto to your painting. (That is of course, if you are using Terry Ludwig’s most excellent rectangular sticks :)
