Painting Gloves?

FOUND SOME GREAT GLOVES the other day, quite by accident. While in a fabric store looking for notions, I spotted a display with several very nice items. One was this set of gloves. Curious, I opened the box and found two with the fingertips removed. Have seen things like this before but these are lightweight, fit well (come in three sizes) and claim to keep your hands warm. Of course, they are mainly for sewing/crafting but why not for plein air painting or even photography? I am going to try them out, but wanted you to know about them in case you want to secure some for yourself. If you don’t have a fabric store, try the product web site. I got this from the box. Also check out their little wrist bean bag (again for sewing but I got one for my computer…super duper.) I do not think...

I was not disappointed. In the next few posts I’ll explore what I found, and a couple of unexpected adventures along the way!...

DISCOVERED THAT THOMAS COLE, “father” of the Hudson River School (visited his house/studio today) wanted to preserve the nature of the region through his work. Di's Tips
Soft Pastel on a Roll!

Use your muscles and be brave when painting in pastel. Take those sticks, break them in half and do some rolling up-and-down, back-and-forth to bring energy and thick impasto to your painting. (That is of course, if you are using Terry Ludwig’s most excellent rectangular sticks :)
